Brought to you by Cleansui
I love school holidays. For the most part. I love the fact that we don’t have to rush in the morning, pack lunches, pack the bedding bag, and just the general morning rush. Although we always seem to have that “morning rush”, knowing we don’t have to be somewhere at an exact time kind of takes the edge of everything.
With school holidays comes entertainment and those day trips that just seem to only ever happen during school holidays (in our house anyway). So today I am going to share with you my 5 day trip essentials:
One: A plan
A day trip always needs a plan. From a zoo trip to a drive to the Dandenongs {for Melbourne peeps}, it is always important to plan ahead. I also find that if I can tell the kids the day beforehand what the plan for the next day is, it builds the excitement along with answering that forever question “what are we doing tomorrow?”.
Two: Water {in a drink bottle that doesn’t leak}
There is nothing worse then packing your day trip bag with the kids drink bottles to only realise an hour later that it has leaked and soaked everything through. Yes, this has come from personal experience. Water is that one essential item that you just don’t want to be without. There is nothing worse then having the “I’m thirsty” in the background with no water to give. Cleansui have great water purifying jugs and in tap purifiers that produces the most cleanest water. The water just tastes fabulous coming from Cleansui. And best of all, all TPF followers get a fabulous drinking bottle when you order your next purifying jug (a bottle that is guaranteed to not leak, trust me!} You can buy online here.
Three: Patience
Because sometimes the day trip doesn’t go to plan and in fact, it can be cancelled last minute. So maybe a plan B? Or maybe just simple patience. But then again, that is parenting 101, right?
Four: Lunch, snacks and treats
Having an overload of food and snacks is an essential part of any drive really for my kids. Partly because my little man has great difficulty sitting still, giving him food in the car generally helps him a little… just a little. Depending on where you go, buying food can also be exceedingly expensive. Incredibly expensive! So pack lots of food.. lots!
Five: Bring your sense of adventure
Roll with the punches, go with the flow, let your hair down and bring your sense of adventure. Because day trips are all about adventure and fun.
And just an extra little note, don’t forget the hand sanitiser or wipes. I personally prefer to use wipes because I find they don’t dry out my hands as much.
Cleansui is offering all The Parenting Files 20% off their next purchase of purifying jugs. As a bonus, you will also get a Cheeki water bottle. Simply enter TPF_CHEEKI at checkout. What are your day trip essentials?
