arty display of colour

displaying kids artwork

We are only nearly at the end of January and I already have a pile of colourful artworks wanting a home. I love that my little girl loves to craft. Crafting is her thing. The best thing! And, of course, with crafting comes the creations. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t keep every single piece of craft, drawing or sticker creation. But I do want to always display the ones that she is most proud of.

Truth be told, I don’t have much space in our house. Many of our walls are already covered with other artworks of framed pictures. But there is always space.

So where do I display them? Anywhere. There is something probably in every room of the house. Now I know, this is probably not everyone’s cup of tea. But my house is always colourful (often with toys too) with an arty display of colour.

Everything, however, does keep on changing. I give her the autonomy and choice to display what she wants for how long. Each piece usually lasts a couple of weeks before she is willing for another one to take its place. And for those pieces which I think are extra special, I take photos. By the end of the year, I have a collection of arty photos that I can use for a photo book. A treasure, a display, a memento of her work and creativity.

How do you display your children’s artwork?

This is a lovely idea to display the art throughout your house. We mainly keep a collection on the fridge and then I put them away to bind at the end of the year. It would be nice to include some in the playroom upstairs though. It definitely does make the house brighter and happier :)

We have some in every room except the bathrooms lol. I keep meaning to take photos and make a book. I plan to do t this year before the stored pieces disintegrate

I can’t stand the displays, I keep two on the fridge at a time and a few in a folder that I keep. Your photos certainly are cheerful :)

I love the idea of an art photo book. I think I’ll steal that!
We quite often have pictures up a lot too, but not this much. I love how you use all the space in your house. And really, why not?

I used to paste all my babies artworks into scrapbooks. Now with six kids I can’t stay on top of it anymore! My desk has no sitting room now!!! The kids have portfolios from school every year so I put whatever I deem beautiful and worthy into those instead.

I have kept a portfolio for each year – and with my son attending school next year, I’m going to have to be stricter with my culling process :) I think I might get a few frames and rotate the good ones through them – hadn’t thought about the bathroom though :)

My little one has just turned 2 and is churning out artworks like nobody’s business! We’re giving them away to everyone we know, but I must remember to put some up on the wall and not just stack them in a pile. :) Thanks for the inspiration!!
