My clean laundry

Cold Power Sensitive Touch

This post is brought to you by Cold Power

My kids get dirty! Lately, I feel like I am constantly doing laundry. When one load finishes, the basket miraculously fills again, it empties, and then it starts again and again…. Yes…. The laundry life like so many of you would experience.

And there is nothing worse then having done all that laundry to then realise that your clothes are still dirty, stains are still there, and well basically you have to wash pieces of clothing again. Nothing worse! To find the right laundry detergent is a hard one! Because I don’t want those detergents that have all the nasties and irritate my skin and my children’s skin, and leaves my clothes still dirty.

Welcome to Cold Power! I think in just a few washes my life has changed! My clothes appear cleaner! And I am now talking about laundry, something I think I swore I would never talk about because really…. I hate laundry! And the extra goodie about Cold Power Sensitive Touch is that it is hypoallergenic and dermatologically tested and is free from perfumes to ensure sensitive skin remains free from irritation. Good for me! Good for my family!

What I have learnt about laundry and how to do (try to) less of it, is to take a few shortcuts. Yes, shortcuts! In all honesty, I can’t stand separating my whites and blacks! I am often left with half a load of blacks sitting in the basket which will often stay there because I can never be bothered to do that extra load. So I mix them! Shame on me, I know, but if I know that certain dark clothes won’t run, I mix them!

Those red pants I know run every time (I will never buy that brand again for this simple reason) are washed on their own ! I hate doing that!

So some extra laundry time saving tips:

1. Use laundry bags for those more special items! Hand wash be gone!
2. That gentle cycle … It may take about 2 hours to wash, but gentle it is!
3. To avoid intense creases and ironing, hang your clothes IMMEDIATELY once the cycle is finished! Makes the world of difference.
4. To totally wipe out ironing… Here is my fabulous tip: 1. Buy drying balls from your local hardware or laundry store. 2. Put those shirts into the dry immediately after washing. 3. Turn on your dryer for 5 minutes, no more. 4. Hang immediately! Creases… GONE! ironing…. FINISHED!

So, there you have it, my little laundry tips. And pick the best detergent and you are set! A little shine to your clothes!

To celebrate my fabulous clean clothes, Cold Power are giving away 2 packs of Cold Power Sensitive Laundry Detergent to one lucky reader. All you have to do is leave me a comment below and tell me:

Use vinegar as fabric softener! It really works xx

Vinegar added to the final rinse is a fantastic fabric softener (as Chantal said) and will also help to kill any nasties, remove smells, clean out the washing machine and the pipes too. It’s safe to use and cheap as.

I keep a household hints and tips book in my laundry and refer to it for any stains, washing tips, etc. It is really handy as not all stains can be treated the same way, and if I can treat the stain quickly, it has a really effective result.
I also clean out my washing machine regularly to prevent lint from piling up.
I always make sure I have a supply of liquid and soap (for hand washing). I buy them on sale and keep them stored away. And I try to stay on top of the washing as much as possible to prevent Mount Washmore

Leave the door of the washing machine open for at least an hour after using to allow the machine to dry internally, which prevents mould forming around seals and keeps the machine smelling fresh.

When i get a stain on something, I try to deal with it immediately. If i let it dry, it’s permanent. Most of the time I leave freshly stained clothes in a bucket full of water with a little detergent until i have time to treat the stain.

I like your ironing tip! Anything that saves me ironing is a friend of mine. I also add. Cup of borax to the wash from time to time. Keeps whites and colours fresh looking and gives the machine a lean at the same time. Result! x

What is borax? I have never heard if that… Off to check that out x

One that my Mum taught me – fold your clothes as you’re getting them off the line, it saves having to double handle them. I try to always do this, although when it sounds like the kids are killing each other inside I tend to just throw them in and run!

Fold them from the line… There is an idea..: doing the sheets like this would be a real time saver!!!

Love your tips, thank you for sharing them! I’ve never tried dryer balls before, but I feel that it’s about time I started. Ironing is the most unpleasant part of the whole laundry experience, and my least favourite house cleaning task. Some of the clothes come out of the laundry in such a poor condition, that I feel even an hour of ironing won’t fix them.
