The best resorts in Australia

best resorts in Australia

If you are anything like me, you are already planning summer school holidays {or school holidays in general}. For Melbourne folks like me… yep, maybe it is the ‘June school holiday up north break’ to escape the cold and get some Vitamin E into our systems.

When I was lucky enough to be the social media manager of one of Melbourne’s premium travel agencies, I happened to stumble upon some fabulous finds and holiday adventures.  So take a seat, make yourself a cuppa and relax while I show you my top 6 resorts in Australia:

  1. Sea World Resort & Water Park, Gold Coast – Spending much of my childhood on the Gold Coast, I have come to know all the ins-and-outs of this place. Theme park heaven, the kids will love it. So why not stay at one of the best theme parks in town. This place has come a long way over the years, now offering an amazing water aquatic playground, polar bear cove, PLUS the entire wild rides. It’s like an adventure waiting for you right outside your hotel room door. There is something for everyone here.
  2. Peppers Beach Club & Spa Palm Cove – 5-star-rated, looking over the stunning palm-fringed beach of Palm Cove, this award winning resort is the perfect place to indulge in tropical relaxation. Catering for couples and families, the resort has everything you need. You basically would not have to leave this place for your whole entire stay. True bliss.
  3. KingFisher Bay Resort, Fraser Island – World Heritage listed Fraser Island is positioned at the start of The Great Barrier Reef, just 4.5 hours north of Brisbane. Offering exceptional beauty with its uninterrupted white beaches, ancient rainforests and pure calmness, it is the perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle of mainland living. Enjoy a hotel style room or a two or three bedroom villa, perfect for either a couple or family. For an extra special adventure, book your stay between August and November to see the majestic Humpback Whales off Hervey Bay, a short distance from Fraser Island.
  4. Kewarra Beach Resort & Spa – Where is Kewarra you ask? Twenty minutes from Cairns airport, it is set between tropical rainforest and a sea sheltered by the Great Barrier Reef. The perfect place as your ‘hub’ to experience the amazing far north Queensland the beauty it has to offer.
  5. Coolum Beach Resort – The perfect kind of place for a family. Rated 4 star, this place has everything. And by everything, I mean everything. Self-contained apartments, heated pool, 50 metres from the beach, communal BBQ area, and they even have a day spa on site.

And the ultimate in luxury

  1. Qualia – Nestled amongst the Great Barrier Reef, this is the ULTIMATE in luxury. I would be leaving my kids at home for this one. Voted the ‘Best Resort in the World’ 2012 Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards. Not on the cheap side, this is the kind of place you go to for those very, very special occasions. I am thinking maybe my 10 year anniversary…
So there you have it, my fabulous best resorts in Australia. But I would love to hear yours too.
Are you planning your Summer/June holiday sun adventures?

Have to agree on Seaworld Resort. It’s perfect for families. In fact we are heading back this weekend with our 2.5 year old where she will have her first theme park experiences as well. Not the best time or year weather wise but always a fun place to stay.

I’m thinking of some nights at SeaWorld for my 30th this year – one theme park per day…and a recover day haha.

I’ve seen Qualia, from a distance, and dreamed about being a guest there so I’m with you on that one!

We were on the GC in March so no holidays for us for a while.
Would love to get back to Darwin next year during winter, but we will see how we go :)

How lucky as you!! I’ve only been the Sea World from your list and have to agree that it is pretty great. It’s the one place where I felt we could actually truly relax by the pool while the kids played. Now that’s a holiday! I’ll definitely keep the others in mind next time we head up north as I’d love to go to Cairns.
