the clean up discovery

The other day I felt the need for a little spring cleaning

Things were getting a little out of control around in bedroom.

A place I always wanted to have as clean, calm, serene and relaxing is more like turning into a dumping ground of clothes, toys and other random stuff.

So I made a start

And what a discovery I made.

I found a journal I wrote while pregnant. Of course, when you discover something that is a little old, a few words, a few stories, one wants to read one.

In it I discovered a list of the things I wanted to do and accomplish before I had the baby.

1. Complete a photography course

2. Go to a movie at least once a month with my husband

3. Go to all the fancy non-children friendly restaurants that I had read fabulous reviews about.

When we embark on a new challenge, a new journey, one has to ask yourself what do we want to have accomplished by then? Aspirations, dreams, goals.

Every one used to tell me that some of the simple things become some of the most precious things. What was once so easy to plan, organise and accomplish becomes something that is not so easy, or takes ten times longer to accomplish.

Everyone was right. But that does not mean that dreams, aspirations and goals for yourself can not still be thought of. Dare I say it, accomplished.

Surprisingly, many of the things on my list I did accomplish. And many of the things on my list I am still accomplishing. You see, the journey does not stop.

Maybe it is time to go back to the list and devote some YOU time. It doesn’t have to be much, just something that is meaningful, maybe a little bold.

Has there been a time you discovered some previous notes and stories?

I have kept my old journals and letters from my high school days. Every now and then I take the time to rediscover them. A combination of reminiscing, laughing, crying, embarrassment and longing. The letters are mostly from my best friend whom I no longer see. I miss her, so these letters remind me of us.
