the f-bomb etiquette at the park?

Bad-language-is-not-a-good-example.

I was at the park last week with my Little E. She’s playing. I am sitting. And then I hear “Fuckin”

I suddenly look up. Who has said that?

There was dad on the phone while pushing his son on the swing. Obviously having a rant and rave while his son was blissfully happy being pushed in the swing. He doesn’t know any different right? He is just enjoying the swing like every other time….

Now there were not may kids at the park. But there was me and at least half a dozen other kids.

I am still sitting…. there is goes again… “Fuckin”….

The thought of should I go over and say something or just take my little girl away from noticeable hearing parameter was the question that played in my mind?

I get that we all need a rant and rave and need to drop the F-bomb a good few times every now and then…It feels good! Guilty!

But at a children’s park? With other young kid’s around… has it really come to this?

So what is the social etiquette? What should you do?

“Fuckin”.

There it is again….

Should I go over and say very nicely…. “Come on man… your at a kid’s park…. do you think you can take your conversation elsewhere?”

I didn’t.

Would my reactions be different if it was another mum having this conversation and dropping the F bomb at least 4-5 times?

I can not help but wonder are we becoming accustomed to the F bomb as our everyday language… a word that just slips into our conversation totally oblivious to our conscious awareness? Maybe we are all a little guilty and thus are not as inclined to ask someone to stop F bombing the children’s park?

Sure, maybe I will have to change how I converse a little with friends, guilty. But the preservation of my daughter’s innocence of childhood is worth it.

What would you have done if you had an f-bombing with kids around ? Have you been in this situation before?

It’s Tuesday so linking up with Diary of a SAHM :)

Oh tough call, I have asked people not to swear before in front of the kids and the just swear more!! Move away I suppose is the best, so agree the little ones dont need their vocabulary corrupted before they start school!!

hmm, I guess I would be like you thinking ok that has to be the last time he says it…but alas….dirty looks perhaps???

I notice it, but then again I don’t swear.
I just try and move away from that kind of language, particularly if it is ongoing. It gets stuck in kids heads, and I don’t want it in mine.
