Family Life

the importance of family holidays

IMG_6670

I haven’t been blogging for the last week because I have been away. I have been on holidays with my family.

An attempt to get a wireless internet usb modem didn’t really go to plan when I soon realised that this device didn’t even load the internet. Maybe one page every five minutes. I very quickly gave up on the idea.

So I had no internet, no connection, and was forced to put my blogging on hold.

I soon realised the importance of family holidays, the importance of taking a break, and the importance of stopping our daily activities.

So why are family holidays so important?

What is the importance to each family member? For different family members, holidays mean something different.

For dad, who most often works full – time, it is a chance to switch that work button off and put on a different hat. Relax and play dad duties. By dad being around, mum can relax and feel like some of the mum duties are shared and a load is taken off.

Mum can feel a little more relaxed.

And the kids can have dad for some extra full time.

Breakfast, lunch, dinner, bath time and dinner time.

It’s the special things together, the things that can only happen whilst on family holidays.

The zoo, continuous and daily swing rides, strolls on the beach, babychinos and family brunches.

It doesn’t have to be far, it doesn’t have to be long. Just a time that can be called a “family holiday”.

So what is the importance of a family holiday to you? What is special to you?

Holidays are always very special and memorable. With the usual routine up, it’s always great to spend some great time with family. Truly explains the value of closed ones.

Honestly, whenever Dave comes home, I feel that immediate weight lifted, the one you described exactly! About sharing the load.

I know when he comes home, he does Max’s bath. And it’s their chance to bond before bedtime, and my time to just do whatever I feel like doing. Usually, I prepare dinner. But sometimes, I just want to sit on the couch & do absolutely nothing :)

So that in itself, is a holiday :)

Missed your posts, but glad you got some R&R xx

So true Cherie. When my hubby gets home it is like “here… your turn…” just to share the load is a break too :)

Beautiful post. Family holidays are for us, special memories that will stay with all of us together. We have our regular trips at Easter and Christmas to our beach caravan. These are the traditional holidays that will instill the importance of simplicity, togetherness and love. And we also try every couple of years to go on a trip, either to QLD or hopefully overseas. We want our kids to experience, enjoy and treat these as special family times. x
