the meaning of friendship

170714642094556635_zhh11apL_c

I just got back from a fabulous of fabulous holiday with my family.

It was just what we needed.

However, my dear husband learnt how tiresome and demanding our 18-month-old is… the attention, the detail, the demands, the constant constants… I honestly think he needs a detox holiday in a way

But while I was away soaking up the fabulous sunshine, there were a certain few people who had it tough.

My dear gorgeous newest bestie who I am so appreciative of for so many things ended up in hospital for a brief period, totally worn out, totally drained and in need of some tlc…

I wasn’t there

I so wanted to be

I wanted to just be there for her in some way.

Some how phone calls and text messaging does not cut it.

You know a true friend when they call you for help

When they message you asking you and telling you they are in need

They trust you with their honest opinion

They are the people that appreciate you

Are open, honest, transparent with you. There are no lies.

But that is the funny thing about friendships

Sometimes they come when you least expect it

Someone is totally different to you

Sometimes we all need a friend

An honest and open someone

Someone to let it all out

To talk the dirty stuff with

To talk the ugly stuff with

The positive people in our life make a difference

The negative people in our life can drain us

We need to show our children to cherish their positive friendships

And that it is ok to let go of the negative ones

What is the meaning of friendship to you?

To me, the meaning of friendship is weathering life’s storms together and being there to enjoy the sunshine as well. I’ve got a couple of friends I can do this with. I’ve also had to let some go that were too toxic. And I agree that our kids need to see the value and importance of true friendship through our modelling.

I hope your friend is ok.

Lovely post, friendships to me have taken on new meaning since the kids, and I value you them more than ever. There are a few that have fallen just due to change in life paths but not any that I would call toxic. My girlfriends keep me going but i am lucky to be married to my bestie!

So true Karla. Being married to your bestie is an extra bonus!
