the simple things

What is your simpleness? What are the simple things that you are taking notice of? This is my column this month in 3008docklands.

******

School holidays have come and now they have gone. The Easter holidays seems soooo long ago. The daily hussle and bussle and chaos continues… and so we wait for that next break. It seems like only yesterday that I found out I was pregnant again. But now… the waiting game is on. Time just seems to have crept closer and closer to “B Day”!

And so I realise, sometimes it is the simple things that matter. The little things. The tiny things. No sooner do we have time to spare, it evaporates so very quickly. What seems like so far away will creep up on you in a second. Literally!

Confession… I often lose sight of the little things, the small things, the things that seem insignificant. But I know that this insignificant occurrence will one day bite me in the back side because I didn’t realise how significant it was. Even the toughest challenges can be the very best thing. A turning point. An eye opener.

So I am now noticing. I am now taking time to observe, process and observe a little more. That cheeky smile. That big bear hug I get just before bed time. That process of sorting her toy dolls.

It is all going to change very quickly. Time will not stand still. Life as I know it is going to change.

a little note: a wrote this column before I had my little munchkin. Now, the simple little things are all so more and more important!

What is your simpleness?

What are the simple things that you are taking notice of?

I’m blown away that we are currently filling out the paperwork for my first ‘baby’ to start school next year, and that my ‘baby baby’ is 18 months old. I try to burn the little things into my memory – the way his eyes light up as he explains something he learned to me, the way she says “uh-oh” when she drops something. The way they look so similar when they are asleep (they both inherited hubby’s gorgeous long lashes – unfair!). So true how quickly things go Tahlia! A timely reminder :)

This is such a lovely post. I really do need to slow down and appreciate the little things. We really get swept up in all the big things when the little things can be so special. You make me want to go and tickle my girls and watch their eyes open wider, listen for the laugh and admire their innocence. Thank you. Rachel x

it is so hard to stop sometimes. Isn’t it funny how a tickle can be so much fun and entertaining. I love it too and for some strange reason so do kids…when they laugh it is so hard to not laugh with them.

      enjoy the tickle party xxx
