I am planning my lil mans 1st birthday – planning to do a fondant cake.. was it easy?

    • Tahlia

      Hi Yvette

WOW! That is so exciting!!! 1! I have to admit, I went on Youtube for a good few hints. It is amazing how many great videos are out there. I also used Wilton as a guide for decorating ideas and tools etc.

It is not hard! I actually thought it would be harder. You want a cake with some height… mine was actually 2 cakes because the first did not rise enough. The only more fidly bit is laying the fondant over the cake, but go onto youtube and check out a video. Just search “covering cake with fondant”. Other then that, the rest is really like play dough … rolling it out and cutting the shapes.

Any more tips just let me know. You have just given me a blog post idea – decorating a cake with fondant from scratch!

      xx

What a beautiful birthday and such gorgeous photos! I just love the way you displayed the fruit sticks, we have made fruit sticks before but never thought of doing it like this! Adding this one to my list to try for my little miss who will be 2 in July. Thanks! x
