What high chair to buy?

This is a sponsored post. All thoughts are my own, all the time.

Say hello to the newest and coolest product by BabyBjorn.

With food comes mess, more mess, more washing and a little more cooking. Just a little. So having the best high chair for your bubba can sometimes make or break your whole feeding and food experience, for both of you. The question remains of what material, recline or no recline, size, menovability, and space is right for you and your bubba? For me, it is about space and practicality.

Yes I was given a ‘hand me down’ high chair that took up the most part of the kitchen. Literally.

Big and bulky! And even after constant washing of the material base there still seemed to be food found somewhere within the high chair. Food just constantly turned up in places.

And I remember those early days of wondering and thinking, ‘what high chair should I buy?’

So when I was given a new BabyBjorn high chair to try I was super excited. BabyBjorn is a brand I know and love. I have had, and still do have, many products of theirs. All are well loved and used. So I knew their new high chair would be just as fabulous.

And it is red.

When it comes to feeding babies, mess is a big thing. Mess in every little place that is often unimaginable. So when a high chair is an easy wipe clean plastic, this gets bonus ticks in my opinion. And there are no nooks and crannies where food can be collected.

None!

And there is no way a little munchkin can get out of this one. The safety table keeps your bubba securely in the chair and closes with a two -step lock. And because it keeps bubba in place, the food drops straight onto the table as opposed onto bubba’s lap. Genius.

See that tray? It can be easily clicked on and off for even easier cleaning too.

But fiddly it can be. It took me a good couple of go’s to truly and securely feel comfortable that I could work the locking system. I did have to read the instructions on this one. But once I got it, I got it. And I can tell you now, there is no way the little man is going to climb out of this high chair once he gets bigger!

And we used it, and bubba ate his food. And I wiped clean the new gorgeous looking red high chair.

But this little bubba of mine was not totally happy. Although he is six and a half months, and technically speaking he should be able to sit comfortably in the chair, he just wasn’t. He was fidgety, restless and at times just upset. And I worked out why. He is not yet able to sit on his own. This high chair is designed to be used for a baby that can sit unassisted. It promotes a proper sitting position and helps bubba sit up right, but because he can’t yet sit, he found it a strain.

There were moments of contemplation…

But unless your bubba is able to sit unassisted, then he too may find it a challenge. But with that being said, I know in about a month or so he is going to love it. He will be bigger, stronger, and hopefully, be sitting. It will be perfect for him. And me.

So I can fold it away for the next month and store it in a cupboard to wait for when he is ready. Yes, I did say fold. When those guests pop in, or there is a little entertaining going on, just fold the chair away. It easily fits into a broom closet! This I love. And the legs come off easily too, making it even easier to fold away.

P.s. For those non-red mumma fans, don’t worry… it comes in white too.

So you see, finding the right high chair can give you more then just a peaceful and enjoyable eating experience. Independence. Strength. Motor Development.

Maybe there is no perfect high chair. But getting close to perfect is good enough for me.
