behind the lens

I like to think of myself as an ‘amature’ photographer, what ever that means really? I like to think that every now and then I can take a photos that is half decent, half arty, and captures the moments in a special way. Life in photos gives a whole new meaning, story and perspective. And every now and then, there is a photo of my children that grabs me, makes me go ‘awwwww’, and inspires me to smile that little more.

Yes, there is something special about photos, portraits, and life behind the lens. Because I grew up loving art classes and painting as a hobby, it has come naturally to me to see things in this creative way. Angles, points, colour, movement.

Jumping, enjoying, playing, imagining. There is definitely room for improvement.

Fortunately for me, there is someone who is willing to help me improve on my photography journey. Someone who is willing to put up with my endless questions and queries while giving me those pointers along the way. A whole day, of nothing but learning and photography love. Angie Baxter, we are both in for an awesome day.

Sometimes it is the process of learning that gives us a whole new world of inspiration. And it is the inspiration that then allows us to move in a new and wonderful direction. I can’t wait to see where this journey takes me. I can’t wait to see what Angie teaches me. And I can’t wait to share my new photos with you too.

If you want to learn more about Angie’s workshops, Love Your Camera, check it out here. She runs them all over Australia so everyone can experience her wisdom.

Are you behind the lens?

{p.s} I was not paid to write this post. However, Angie is sponsoring me to attend her workshop and in return I am blogging about by before and after experience.

I’d love to do a photography workshop. I recently had to take some promo shots for our daughter and loved it. And the pictures turned out amazing (even if I do say so myself!)

Awesome Jodi. It is such a great feeling when you get great photos. Even if you get like only one in 100. It is still a great feeling.

Enhancing my skills trough workshops is great. I have only heard awesome and great things about Angie. And her photos are AAA–MMMMAAA-ZZZIIIIIIII – GGGGGGG

I have one of her ebooks and it is so good. I would love to do one of her courses but it is definitely a case of bad timing for me, I just haven’t been able to work my life around getting to one. I am determined though once this new bub has come along and life has settled back down again and I’m not on-call for milk cow duties every few hours to make it a priority! Can’t wait to hear all about it.

    #teamIBOT was here!

Ohh kylie, it has taken me ages to get my shit together too. I am so excited for the workshop!

But having sore boobs while trying to take a great photo may pose a little awkward xox hehe

I’m useless with a camera. I get lots of shots, but nothing arty. No brilliant use of light, colour, angles etc. I’m a capture the moment, move on, and hope I remember how beautiful it was when I’m looking at it later snapper.
But I appreciate beautiful photos. Looking forward to seeing more on here!

Hehe… With kids it is so hard sometimes. Sometimes the best photos are those candid, non arty, in the moment photos x

I try and get creative but not with any talent at all! What gorgeous hair she has – my daughter is totally jealous! I’m more of a writer than a photographer but it’s something I want to be better at one day!

    • tahlia @ the parenting files

Thanks Emily. I do love her hair too. The maintenance can get hard though sometimes. Xx

    • tahlia @ the parenting files

Haha. Thanks nat. I am hoping they will only improve, my photos that is, not my models :)
