A day cherry picking

cherry picking melbourne

It was one of those days where we knew we had to do something ‘different’. It is so easy to get caught up in the everyday rhythm and routine, and taking time out to do something ‘different’ can at times be understandably difficult. Reading ‘all you can eat cherries’ in bold on the website made it a definite winner!

I have come to realise that this time of year us the time to do all those ‘things’ that are different and a little more adventurous. Everyone is in a good mood, the cheers are happening, there is no rush in the morning and the general feeling of ‘relaxation’ has set in. Even being at home it feels like holidays. The kids generally create a list of activities, and we create one too:

The zoo

The aquarium

Cherry picking

Indoor pool centre with the pirate ship

Play Centre

There are really no rules. There is freedom. There is the opportunity

In my mind, cherry picking was one of those holiday moments. And when your son relishes in the opportunity of picking endless amounts of cherries from the tree, with no limitations, no feeling of “I shouldn’t” (which we have found other berry farms to have), everyone is in heaven.

Next time, we will pack the picnic blanket, bring an esky of food and snacks, and spend the day sitting in the orchard while we eat endless amounts of cherries.

Cherry pie anyone?

What adventures have you been up to these school holidays?
