I saw some love heart Freckles on Pinterest a while back and thought they were ridiculously cute! And so, with Valentines Day coming up, what better excuse to make a few. These were so easy, in fact, they would be perfect for kids to make. You could, of course, make different shapes too, like stars, flowers or, of course, your classic round Freckle… only giant size!
First of all, grab a flat tray and line it with baking paper. Place your cookie cutters on the tray. I used different sized love hearts for mine.
Melt about 200g of good quality chocolate (for this recipe I wouldn’t use cooking chocolate… go for Lindt or something yummy like that!). Carefully pour the chocolate into the moulds, going no further than 1cm up the mould. If you need to, spread the chocolate out using a teaspoon – just make sure you are holding onto the mould when you do this so that it doesn’t slip. Sprinkle over 100s and 1000s and then continue with your other moulds.
The trick is to make sure your Freckles aren’t too thin as they will break when you go to pop them out of the moulds later. You also don’t want them to be too thick because then they aren’t like real Freckles… and of course you want an authentic Freckle!! When all of the moulds have been filled and covered in sprinkles. Place the whole tray in the fridge and leave to set. Take the tray out of the fridge and carefully pop the hearts out.
And there you have it… a yummy, easy and very super-cute Valentines Day idea!
Do you do anything special for Valentine’s Day?
