Christmas : de-cluttering for the holiday season

When my dad comes to town, it is the time when all those ‘odd jobs’ get done, along with a few extra things here and there. I love my gorgeous husband, he is just divine. But when it comes to the ‘handy’ work around the house, well… lets just say he is not so handy. Not at all. There is that ‘handy man’ gene missing in him.

So my dad kind of always knows that there is a list waiting for him when he arrives. Sometimes it is as simple as hanging something from the ceiling or fixing a broken light.

This time, it was the tree lopping. Our poor trees at the front just want to grow, but have not been pruned and cut back for years. And I mean years. And so he got to work. I helped him, the kids even helped him. It was a nice little activity in between the unpredictable Melbourne rain.

But who knew it would result in so much waste and garbage. Two garden bins filled, and there is still left over tree waste.

So it got me thinking about the opportunity to de-clutter, get rid of more waste and garbage that is just lying around the house, the yard and the garage, and then hire one of those really big skip bins to then just take my garbage away. No mess, no fuss. Kind of simple. Kind of refreshing.

With the holiday season drawing near, it is a fantastic time to de-clutter and dispose of all that extra ‘stuff’ that has just miraculously accumulated over the year. Somehow, this stuff just accumulates.

Old bikes that have been sitting, rusting away

Electrical goods that just don’t work but you have no way of getting rid of them

Timber pieces

Boxes of old newspapers and magazines

And even those tree branches that have been lopped.

The sound of de-cluttering brings a sense of peace to my ears. And these days, ordering something online at ten o’clock at night brings an even greater sense of peace to my ears. There is no time wasted on the phone and feeling frustrated while actually waiting to speak with someone. And so it is obvious really, isn’t it? Order your skip bin on-line with Skip Bins Online

Don’t just sit around and wonder when that next big clean-out is going to happen. Set yourself a date. Book in the skip bin and let go of all that stuff you are holding onto.

Are you thinking of de-cluttering this holiday season?

My post is about de-cluttering as well. I have often said we should get a skip but A is a little nervous – he knows that he may land up in it !! LOL Seriously, I still think we may land up with a skip because there is only so much that Lifeline can take. We did have a council pick-up a few weeks ago which was great as we got rid of a fair amount of stuff there as well.
Have the best day and yay for Dads who are handy around the place.

I love a good de-clutter. It’s good for the soul!

We always do a declutter at this time of year. I know we are going to get an influx of goodies, clutter and toys for Christmas, so I cleanse up beforehand so it doesn’t get out of control. Just wondering, (really only curious) was this post sponsored by Skip Bins Online?

DID it – well kinda did it and have more to go – in fact I have a garage sale on Saturday to prove that I actually sorted some shiz out!

We have the council pickups in September to get ready for the cyclone season, so that’s a good incentive for us. But also the inlays will be up soon, so everything will be cleaned thoroughly before then. :)
