School holiday ideas to get you through the last week

everyday moments

The last week of school holidays can sometimes be the hardest. Often I hear Mumma friends say “the kid’s are batty! They are flying off the wall!” Because in all seriousness, their routine has gone out the window, the lazy days are probably getting a little boring, the sun is often not so shiny, they like routine, they like structure, and those art and craft activities are just getting a little bit much for their Mumma.

Yes, that final week can be hard. Who can blame them really?

So I thought I would collate some school holiday ideas for you and the kids. Just to get you through those last few days….

Create a masterpiece out of sticker: I just stopped off at the $2 store to pick up a bunch of sticker books &  a couple of canvas blocks. This will keep my little miss entertained for hours.

Dye pasta: Dying pasta is not only a great fun activity to do, but fabulous for those kids who love to thread and make necklaces. It is like making necklace out of something you just made. Pretty cool for kids.

Make paper chains: An oldie but a goody. One for the older kids who like to cut and paste.

Cone baskets: And then the kids can use them to go on treasure hunts.

Make raspberry & banana muffins: No one can get enough muffins. There is something special about raspberry muffins!

Orange & Poppy Seed cupcakes: Or how about adding a little extra frosting! YUM!

Pet rocks: One for all ages. Go searching for rocks, paint them, decorate them, collect them!

I hope these little inspiration ideas help you through the week & leave you not worrying about the housework and laundry.

My four – twins and teens- are into their third week and they’re good but I am going a bit mad. I reckon I’m lonely. Hubby has been away for three weeks and I am craving close adult company. Have called in a babysitter and run away to the pub with my laptop tonight… my idea of fun.

We have spraypainted gold and silver over an old painted canvas, ready to paint on top of again. That was fun. But raspberry muffins, yes, we need those!

We’ve still got a week and a half left here (four week break) and we are all really enjoying it. One of our biggest wins has been getting lego; the kids are playing with it for hours
